Newark, NJ (October 7, 2021) - Panasonic is proud to announce the release of the new full-frame box-style LUMIX Digital Single Lens Mirrorless Camera, the DC-BS1H. Panasonic Announces the LUMIX BS1H Full-Frame Box-Style Mirrorless Live and Cinema Camera Featuring A Compact Body with 6K 24p / 5.9K 30p 10-bit Unlimited Video Recording Capability The BS1H will be available from November at a recommended selling price of $3500. It also includes both Timecode and Genlock inputs for precise synchronization of cameras.

The BS1H offers a wide variety of capture and output modes, including 10-bit output of up to 1080p over its SDI connector, gamma-encoded 4K or 5.9K Raw over HDMI, while also capturing footage to its internal twin SD card slots. The BS1H is also designed so it can work as part of a multi-camera setup alongside BGH1s running on the same network. The company says the majority of cages designed for the BGH1 will fit the new camera perfectly. The dimensions of the BS1H are virtually identical to those of the Micro Four Thirds BGH1 model, with the only significant difference being an 0.8mm (~1/32") increase in depth to accommodate the deeper flange-back distance of the L mount. There is the option to use Boost IS mode when the camera is used with one of Panasonic's stabilized lenses, maximizing the effect of the lens' IS for more tripod-like static shots. The most significant difference between the S1H and the BS1H, beyond the lack of screens and viewfinder, is an absence of internal stabilization mechanism. The camera can be operated remotely as part of a fixed camera setup at a venue (mounted in the ceiling of an auditorium, for instance), or on a gimbal, where its lower weight make it easier to stabilize. It has a built-in fan, allowing unlimited recording in all modes, and accepts Panasonic's large pro-video 'V' type batteries, when it's not being directly powered over USB or Power-over-Ethernet.

6K 'open gate' 3:2 shooting at up to 24p in 10-bit.The whole design of the camera is based on the idea of maximizing flexibility by creating a pared-back camera unit with extensive connection options and protocols, allowing its use in a variety of situations where a camera-shaped model isn't well suited.

It has a series of customizable buttons on the body and all its menus can be controlled from a computer or smartphone-based app. Like the existing Micro Four Thirds BGH1 model, the camera has no screens and relies on the use of HDMI, SDI, Ethernet or Wi-Fi communication for monitoring. As such it offers open-gate 6K capture, 5.9K 16:9 capture, anamorphic support, and Raw output to Atomos or Blackmagic recorders. The Panasonic BS1H is a compact box-shaped modular video camera built around the same components as the S1H full-frame mirrorless camera.
